Who We Are

Women and Children Health Organization (WCHO) is a national non-governmental organization that is women-led, non-political and non-profit. In order to promote an inclusive and just society where everyone including persons with disabilities have access to fair and high-quality services, WCHO believes in collaborating with women, children and youth. WCHO is a national organization that was registered with registration number 2728 in 2020 under the RRC ACT of 2016. In order to find better ways to address gender inequality and provide access to essential information and transformative services, WCHO works in partnership with important stakeholders and other partners.  A group of professionals with a wide range of educational backgrounds and extensive work experience in leadership, management and program implementation in emergency, resilient and development contexts launched WCHO in April 2018.

Women and Children Health Organization places a high priority on child survival and stresses the need of access to preventive healthcare, nutrition, protection food security, livelihood and education in order to ensure children’s wellbeing. This comprehensive approach is crucial for saving and improving quality of life for children.

Women and Children Health organization (WCHO) was founded in April 2018 by a group of philanthropic, professionals with diverse educational backgrounds and vast working experiences in emergency and development humanitarian innovations, who want to create impact on the health and wellbeing of women and children including persons with disability and sustainable environment they live in.

Women and Children Health organization (WCHO) believes that child survival is vital not only through the initial birth, but also includes on-going access to preventive healthcare, sanitation, nutrition, and education to save a life, and make it last.

The organization got fully registered as NNGO with South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (SSRRC) in February 2020 with REG NO: 2728.

Brief history on initiation of WCHO

In April 2018, WCHO founding members by then working with the prisons found out that Reproductive Health (RH) services were missing for prisoners through Community Based organization. They then first conceived with the idea of providing RH services to prisoners. After further discussion with members and experts, it was realized that several vulnerable groups exist in South Sudan with high unmet needs for several basic care services. Accordingly, the aim of the organization was broadened to most of the basic services required for women and children including persons with disability to realize their full human potential.
